Malaga In March

At the beginning of the month, I took myself off to Malaga, Spain to learn the basics of a Russian manicure after discovering @dara.nailstudio's work. This was for a few reasons; I lived in the city during my university studies and fell in love with Andalucia, I wanted to set myself the challenge of honing my craft in another language, and ultimately upskill for myself and my clients after feeling like my work had plateaued.

I was totally in awe of Dara and her beautiful work, I learned so much! The precision and perfection is something I only aspire to and hope to bring back to my services here in Edinburgh. It was wonderful being in their creative space!

MÁLAGA RECOMMENDATIONS

El Pimpi should be your first stop for vino tinto and tapas when you hit Málaga; it's an institution for malagueños adorned with beautiful vintage posters and live music.

  • Casa Aranda is a loud and bustling no-frills cafe for the best churros and hot chocolate in the city. It's a go-to for your itinerary!

  • Casa Mira for amazing gelato and traditional Spanish turrón.

  • Saunter down through the city to Muelle Uno and the Paseo del Parque, a new and improved marina and park with cute market stalls and coffee stops.

  • For a spot of culture, I love visiting the Museum of Málaga in the old town for a look at the city's beginnings to the present day and the CAC Málaga by the river for more contemporary visual arts.
